On-device Now Playing on a Mac
Now Playing is implemented in the native Swift app, not as a web view in the notch. Playback and artwork sit in the closed notch so you do not hunt for a player window.

A real Mac utility can follow Spaces, displays, and system appearance. Now Playing is part of that host.
What stays in-tree
First-party Now Playing lives in the app. Third-party packages cannot load unsigned code.
