Now Playing is a small SwiftUI surface. Playback and artwork sit in the closed notch so you do not hunt for a player window. Disable it if you want the lightest possible notch.

Live polling and media artwork cost more than a static chip. Now Playing should sleep when unused.
How to lighten it
Turn off unused live activities in Settings so Now Playing is not in the stack all day.
