Does iMac work offline?
Shipping iMac behavior is a local Mac utility. Desktop Macs without a notch can still use the floating top-edge companion. Network is not required for the core notch host.

Sparkle updates and optional music backends may need a network. iMac itself is described as on-device where the feature allows.
