Does compact mode work offline?
Shipping compact mode behavior is a local Mac utility. The open notch can shrink to a player-first panel without a tab bar. Network is not required for the core notch host.

What needs a network
Sparkle updates and optional music backends may need a network. compact mode itself is described as on-device where the feature allows.
AI is separate
NotNotch AI is in development and is not required to use compact mode.
